Marlene Govender is an accomplished business tourism specialist with over two decades of marketing, sales, and hospitality expertise.

Renowned in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Events) ecosystem, she previously served as General Manager of Marketing, Sales, and Events at the Durban International Convention Centre. Her extensive career also spans strategic roles at Simbithi Country Club, Coastlands Hotels & Resorts, and South African Tourism.

Marlene holds an MBA from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, where her research analyzed the socioeconomic impacts of convention centres on the South African economy. She passionately advocates for collaborative leadership, innovation, and sustainable tourism development.
